Senior Embedded System Engineer

Design, develop, and support bootloader and Linux kernel services, device drivers, and Linux applications for PowerPC processors. Develop Linux-based applications for consumer devices and products. Work closely with customers on new and innovative products and devices. Support customers on both board-level and software issues. This position requires individual to work with a cross-functional team and work directly with individuals in the USA, Taiwan, China, and Southeast Asia.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and support bootloader, Linux, and open source applications
• Support customers with both hardware and software issues from board bring-up to performance issues
• Participate in cross-functional team projects encompassing different technical disciplines and work with ASIC, Validation, Hardware, Diagnostic, and Software teams
• Work closely with Software and Hardware Engineering for problem analysis and resolution

Education/Experience Requirement:

• BS and 4-6 years, MS and 2-4 years, or Ph.D. and 0-2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Good understanding of embedded architecture
• Proficient skills in C/C++
• Have working knowledge of PCI/PCIe, USB, SATA, RS-232, EPROM, SRAM, flash memory, etc.
• Must have experience in microcontroller/embedded systems programming
• Must have experience in embedded Linux kernel and driver development
• Must have low-level hardware experience for board bring-up and debug
• Excellent debugging skills
• Must have good communication skills (written and verbal) in English

Additional skills:

Experience with any of the following is desirable, but not required:

• Tcl or Perl
• IXIA, Adtech, Agilent PCI/PCIe, and USB test equipment
• Ethernet and TCP/IP-related protocols
• DDR2 and DDR3
• Experience with consumer and OEM products
• Ability to speak Chinese (Mandarin)
